Topic 34                 Joining sentences with ‘who / which’

To join the sentences using Relative Pronoun, first identify the subject matter of the two sentences.  Then decide which sentence is to be put into another sentence.  Relative clause is always placed after the noun it modifies.

[The man]^ is very strong.  [He] can lift up the heavy box.
[The man] {[who] can lift up the heavy box} is very strong.

[The girl]^ won the first prize.  [She] sang very well.
 [The girl] {[who] sang very well} won the first prize.
       
[The boy]^ is very helpful.  [He] is our class monitor.            
[The boy] {[who] is our class monitor} is very helpful.

Try and see:
1.  The woman is very healthy.  She exercises every day.

2.  The pupil studies very hard every day. He always gets good results.
