Topic 9 -10



Topic 9       Simple Present Tense    (Positive +)
It is used to express the Fact, Habit and General Truth.

F1 is the root verb/ base form.

For the third person singular or any noun that can be replaced by ‘He/She/ It’, the ordinary verb needs to be suffixed with ‘s / es’.  The words which  ends in ‘s / z / x / ch / sh / o’ are to be suffixed with ‘es’

In the negative expression of the ordinary verb in the simple present tense, you have to use auxiliary verbs ‘don’t / doesn’t’.  You use ‘doesn’t’ for the subjects that can be replaced by ‘He / She / It’.  For the subjects that can be replaced by ‘I / We / You / You/ They/’ , ‘don’t’ is used.  The auxiliary verbs ‘don’t / doesn’t’ are always followed by a root verb / F1.
